Backstory
LIFELINE™ Rescue Tools specializes in high-performance self-rescue equipment. The company’s first product, the LIFELINE™ Self-Extrication Tool, originated from the vision of founder James "Jay" Counsellor, a 25 year veteran firefighter who previously served as Hawthorne, NJ's assistant fire chief and received the Hawthorne Fire Department Life Saving Award.
Driven by Safety Concerns For First Responders
Recognizing the growing problem of firefighters becoming entangled in wires and debris during roof-collapse emergencies, Jay sought a more effective solution than traditional knives or wire cutters, which can be difficult to access while using bulky equipment. He partnered with accomplished attorney and entrepreneur Vincent Rao, together collaborating with a skilled team of engineers to develop the LIFELINE™ self-recue tool.
The result is a unique tactical self-rescue device that features an innovative cutting blade, an advanced window breaker, and a 3/16" thick blade, all in one powerful, portable, hand-held device designed to enhance personal safety for first responders.
